Job summary

PetVet Care Centers’ Gluckstadt Animal Hospital in Madison, MS seeks a Kennel Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, maintain cleanliness, feed and handle animals, and contribute to quality care. The role involves following schedules, restraining pets as needed, and providing compassionate care in a fast-paced clinic.

Ideal candidates are 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and animal-handling experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position
• High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Provides compassionate care to pets
• Feeds animals as prescribed by the attending Veterinarian or owner; records appetite, water intake, and waste production
• Recognizes and reports any unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors; monitors pets for distress
• Assists Veterinarians and technicians with pet restraint
• Maintains the cleanliness of the hospital; cleans equipment and facilities; ensures safe use of chemicals
• Follows a regular schedule for cleaning and sanitizing cages, runs, wards, and related areas; changes litter boxes and food/water bowls
• Completes weekly/monthly chore list to maintain hospital cleanliness and appearance
• Prioritizes tasks and maintains kennel laundry and bedding
• Walks patients according to schedule and follows directions
• Performs other duties as assigned by Manager; maintains professionalism with clients and co-workers
