Job summary

West Virginia Department of Agriculture seeks a Certification and Training Assistant to support pesticide applicator certification, recertification, and education activities within the Pesticide Regulatory Programs Unit. Work involves clerical tasks, data entry, and coordination with EPA, USDA, WVU Cooperative Extension Service, and industry partners.

The role supports certification workshops, maintains records, prepares reports, and assists with training credits and program activities.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation or completion of a two-year Associate Degree in Office Management, preferred.
• Two years of full-time paid employment in office clerical work, one of which must have included complex or administrative duties.
• Qualifying experience commensurate with the duties and knowledge listed above or similar responsibilities may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone inquiries about pesticide examinations, records, and training credits.
• Schedules and administers pesticide applicator certification examinations.
• Research files for data and gather information or statistics.
• Prepares reports and printouts regarding pesticide education and certification activities.
• Assists with certification and recertification workshops.
• Receives, sorts, and distributes mail as needed.
• Operates office equipment and uses a computer to enter and analyze data.
• Performs related, and other, work as required.
