Qualifications

License and Certification

• Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License required.
• Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission Certification in Category 29 Household Pest Control required; or must be a Registered Technician and obtain Operator Certification in Category 29 within six months of hire.
• Additional Georgia Commercial Applicator License in Categories 17, 30, 31, 35, or 41 preferred.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in commercial and/or institutional pest control as a Certified Operator, or four years as a Registered Technician.

Skills

• Knowledge of IPM techniques for large school environments.
• Understanding of laws and regulations governing pesticide use, including FIFRA and Georgia laws.
• Ability to read and follow pesticide labels, technical instructions, and MSDS.
• Knowledge of pest control equipment, maintenance, and repair.
• Effective communication skills.
• Research skills for pest identification and control methods.
• Computer skills related to pest control operations.
• Ability to operate a passenger vehicle safely.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Implement and maintain the GCPS IPM program across all locations.
2. Provide excellent customer service.
3. Perform treatments and applications safely and legally.
4. Supervise or review contractor and staff field operations.
5. Maintain accurate pesticide application records and inventories.
6. Complete necessary training for licensing and skill improvement.
7. Operate GCPS vehicles safely, including fueling and maintenance.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Requirements include standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, reaching, talking, hearing, manipulating tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating a motor vehicle. Vision and environmental condition adaptations are also necessary. Hazards include biological species, chemicals, electrical and mechanical equipment.
