Job summary

Pregis LLC. is seeking a Press Operator to oversee hourly production staff and ensure high quality products at the lowest possible cost in line with company standards. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, this role operates on a 2-2-3 schedule (Days) with potential overtime as needed.

You will be trained to operate all converting and finishing equipment, set up functions, and train teammates. Starting pay ranges from $18 to $21 per hour, with opportunities to advance up to $32 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of related experience or training.
  • Experience driving a sit‑down forklift.
  • Exposure to moving equipment and high humidity areas.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all types of full converting line and finishing equipment to Pregis standards for waste, quality, and productivity.
  • Set up and operate all special functions with minimal supervision; train others when required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality procedures and document production data accurately.
  • Monitor line counts, productivity, waste, and quality and implement improvements.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safe work environment; pass information between shifts for smooth transitions.

Summary of Job

Under the direction of VP Manufacturing and or Dept Supervisor oversees hourly employees to ensure the production of the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company standards for quality and performance, customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.

Press Operator Overview: Must have the technical ability to operate all types of full converting line and finishing equipment within Pregis standards for waste, quality, and productivity. Understands and adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures. Set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction. Train other employees when requested or required to do so. Analyze issues, determine, and implement solutions. Provide innovative / creative solutions for opportunities and or improvements.

Classification: Full‑Time-Hourly

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Shifts: Days-6PM-6AM based on a 2-2-3 schedule (overtime as needed based on business needs).

Compensation & Growth: Competitive starting pay of $18–$21/hr, plus career growth opportunities with potential to earn higher wages (up to $32/hr) as you advance within Pregis.

Press Operator Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Consistently demonstrates leadership qualities. Uses leadership skills to direct crews in the efficient operation of the company’s production equipment.
  • Reads and understands all information on job ticket pertaining to a specific job. Ensures that all necessary components to produce the job are present. Does not move forward on any job with conflicting information.
  • Strong inline finishing skill set that leads to a full understanding of how to achieve print quality and register equipment to produce required quality and can achieve acceptable registration within specified M/R standards.
  • Has complete understanding and ability to operate all line ancillary equipment.
  • Strong inline finishing skill set that leads to a full understanding and ability to effectively set up and operate all inline equipment (i.e. gluing, labeling, Straub applicators etc.) as well as rotary cutter with minimal supervision.
  • Understands tension controls and ancillary equipment. Knowledge of how to web up the line, capable of setting cylinders and plates. Has the ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
  • Efficiently operates in line systems with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains 100% of standards in productivity, waste and quality standards. Accurately enters all codes for quantities, materials, and times onto required paperwork.
  • Understands and demonstrates ability to accurately track line counts.
  • Performs necessary functions to operate the line with minimal supervision. Establishes and promotes an environment for learning and process improvement. Consistently looks for improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within quality standards set.
  • Works within all safety guidelines and procedures. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Interacts well between shifts to gain and pass along all information to facilitate a smooth transition without interruption.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in driving a sit‑down forklift.
  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Humidity may exceed 80%.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required.
Physical Characteristics
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50lbs.)
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding
