The Department of State Hospitals-Napa, Personnel Office is recruiting Limited Term, full-time Personnel Specialists. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to apply the State laws, departmental and control agency rules and regulations, and collective bargaining agreement provisions pertaining to a variety of personnel transactions in the areas of personnel record keeping, certification, payroll, and personnel documents processing and related personnel transactions functions. A Personnel Specialist advises employees on their benefits and processes personnel documentation into the computer. Important characteristics include punctuality, good attendance, positive attitude and effective verbal and written communication skills. They must also have the ability to work independently and to interpret and use job-related reference material. Computer skills are also desirable.
This position may be extended up to an additional 12 months (24 months maximum) or may become permanent.
Per CalHR Personnel Specialist position is eligible for an annual payment up to $4,800, payable upon meeting the designated criteria as stated in Pay Differential 240 .
Per CCR 249.3 this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.
Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) accruals.
