Job description

Security programs are essential to the accomplishment of the mission and goals of United States Attorneys’ Offices (USAOs). EOUSA provides security program support for USAOs by supplying policy and procedural assistance for the implementation and conduct of all aspects of security programs in accordance with applicable statutes, Executive Orders and Departmental Orders, to ensure regulatory requirements and the unique needs of each office are met.

GS-09

• Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in federal service assisting with personnel security actions; processing background investigations or clearance documentation; verifying eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information; applying personnel security policies or procedures; and providing customer support on personnel security requirements.
• Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: Master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B. or J.D.); or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year.

• Specialized Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 in federal service reviewing background investigations; determining eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information; interpreting and applying personnel security policies or regulations; resolving clearance-related issues; and providing technical guidance to employees and management on personnel security requirements.
• Education: One of the following types of education in a related field: A Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such degree or LLM.
• Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)

The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
