Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Personal Trainer Certification required.
  • Sound knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement personal exercise programs.
  • Ability to provide fitness testing.
  • CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
  • Criminal background check and authorization to work with children as per guidelines.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing one-on-one fitness instruction to members.

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Design and implement personal exercise programs for members tailored to their individual needs according to accepted fitness standards and practices
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and instruction for each period of exercise as arranged by the member and Personal Trainer
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual member during each instruction period
  • Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
  • Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
  • Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
  • Willingly perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Personal Trainer Certification required.
  • Sound working knowledge of accepted fitness standards and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement personal exercise programs.
  • Ability to provide fitness testing.
  • Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants.
  • CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
