Job summary

Jobtailor in Alabama seeks a Senior Personal Lines Pricing professional to evaluate, analyze, and develop Personal Lines products, establish pricing, and manage implementation and maintenance for programs that support profitability.

You will apply predictive modeling and data visualization to optimize pricing, monitor state performance, and refine underwriting guidelines, while coordinating with agencies, rate bureaus, and internal teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Finance preferred.
  • Multiple CPCU exams or equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • 2 years of personal lines pricing or underwriting preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Access, Comparative Rater software, and data visualization tools.
  • General data mining and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the property and casualty industry and ratemaking procedures.
  • Strong listening and communication skills to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, analyze, and develop Personal Lines products.
  • Establish pricing, implementation, and maintenance for Personal Lines programs.
  • Support production and profitability goals.
  • Provide technical support and best practices for emerging issues.
  • Create educational materials and training for products and programs.
  • Audit field underwriting performance.
  • Participate in strategic direction, including new products and services.
  • Use predictive modeling analyses to improve pricing and reduce rate subsidization.
  • Serve as liaison to regulatory bodies, rate bureaus, and vendors regarding state regulation changes.
  • Provide technical support for products, programs, and pricing; develop trends and project problems.
  • Monitor assigned states, loss ratios, demographics, market and industry trends, and legislative activities.
  • Design corrective actions to address profitability issues and develop innovative product resolutions.
  • Refine product strategy through coverage offerings, underwriting guidelines, and pricing.
  • Ensure Personal Lines portfolios comply with laws and bureau mandates.
  • Coordinate rate review processes for assigned states and ensure timely implementation.
  • Prepare communications to agencies and internal staff regarding product changes.
  • Keep abreast of market and industry developments through publications and seminars.
  • Apply data to solve business problems; compile and analyze data of varying complexity.
  • Select and use appropriate data analysis tools; perform competitive analyses.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Vice President, Personal Lines.
  • Communicate and negotiate with agencies, rate bureaus, and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain communication with Underwriting and Territory Managers.

Requirements

  • Strong listening and communication skills to influence and negotiate with individuals internal and external to the company
  • Must be able to perform computer-based tasks and access digital information necessary for job duties
  • Must be able to complete computer-based tasks and utilize office equipment
  • Must be able to access and enter information accurately using automated systems
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external clients
  • Must be able to present information to individuals and groups
  • Must be able to interpret and apply concepts that may or may not be based upon established guidelines
  • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to travel, with overnight stays required
