Job summary

Houchens Insurance Group seeks an experienced Select P&C Insurance Marketer to drive marketing efforts for Select Line accounts and strengthen carrier relationships. The role focuses on gathering prospect data, developing carrier submissions, and negotiating terms to produce compelling proposals.

You will collaborate with Sales Producers, manage communications, and stay current on industry trends. This is a hands-on position within a production team aimed at optimal output and growth.

Qualifications

• At least three years related insurance experience and/or training.
• Prefer multi-line commercial accounts handling.
• Strong data collection and analysis for marketing to prospects.
• Proficient in computer and office software suites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection from prospects needed to market accounts for all lines of coverage.
• Develop quality submissions to carriers for appropriate types of coverage.
• Submit information to insurance carriers and negotiate premiums and coverage in a timely manner.
• Negotiate with carrier personnel and underwriters to develop the most attractive proposal for prospects.
• Review quotes, prepare spreadsheets, and additional content specific to prospect size and situation.
• Interact regularly to build personal relationships with carrier personnel; manage phone calls and emails in a timely manner and attend off-site meetings as scheduled for relationship building and product knowledge.
• Prepare formal proposals and communicate to Sales Producers.
• Develop Producer/Director confidence in job knowledge, judgment calls, and awareness of current industry trends and developments.
• Handle complex policy issues and find resolution with minimal Producer/Director involvement.
• Directly supervises 1–2 employees (Marketing Assistants). Responsibilities include assigning and directing work.

The Select P&C Insurance Marketer will provide marketing for Select Line accounts and maintain strong relationships with carriers through the following duties.

Responsibilities

Relationships and Marketing (50%)

• Assist with or collect data from prospects needed to market accounts for all lines of coverage.

Insurance Knowledge (30%)

Knows coverage for various Property and Casualty lines of business and is capable of researching various resources to gain more knowledge. This applies to all other areas of responsibility.

Teamwork, Communication, and Organization (10%)

Works together with team and with other departments such as Sales Producers and Account Managers. Plans and discusses execution of strategies. Meets deadlines set forth by Producers. Volunteers to back up and/or assist others as needed. Manages PTO according to departmental needs. Completes special projects as requested by the Manager.

Determination (10%)

Displays commitment and initiative to meet department and agency education goals as set forth in the organization's education program.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 1–2 employees (Marketing Assistants). Responsibilities include assigning and directing work.

Requirements

Computer Skills

Knowledge of Contact Management systems, Database Software, Design Software, Spreadsheet Software, Word Processing Software, and Internet software.

Education and/or Experience

At least three years related insurance experience and/or training, preferably handling multi‑line commercial accounts; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
