Job summary

Houchens Insurance Group is seeking a motivated sales leader to drive performance within a collaborative, employee-owned culture. The role emphasizes relationship building with clients and carriers, crafting compelling submissions, and negotiating coverage and premiums.

You will work with a production team to ensure efficient operations and sustained growth. Ideal candidates bring insurance experience, strong communication, and the ability to lead in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of related insurance experience or training, preferably multi-line commercial accounts.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex insurance documents and policies.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with carriers and clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist Producer to market accounts for all lines of coverage by collecting prospect data.
• Develop quality submissions to carriers for appropriate types of coverage.
• Submit information to carriers and negotiate premiums and coverage in a timely manner.
• Prepare formal proposals and communicate to Sales Producers.
• Develop Producer/Director confidence through knowledge, judgment, and industry awareness.
• Handle complex policy issues with minimal Producer/Director involvement.

50% Relationships and Marketing

• Assists Producer to collect data from prospect needed to market account for all lines of coverage.

• Negotiating with carrier personnel and underwriters to develop the most attractive proposal for our prospects.
• Reviewing quotes, prepares spreadsheets, and additional content specific to prospect size and situation.
• Interacting regularly to build conducive and personal relationships with carrier personnel; this includes, managing phone calls and emails in a timely manner and attending off-site meetings as scheduled for relationship building and product knowledge.
• Preparing formal proposals and communicating to Sales Producers.
• Developing Producer/Director confidence in job knowledge, judgment calls, and awareness of current industry trends and developments.
• Handling complex policy issues and finding resolution with minimal Producer/Director involvement.

30% Insurance Knowledge

• Knows coverage for various Property and Casualty lines of business and is capable of researching additional resources to gain more knowledge. Applies this to all other areas of responsibility.

10% Teamwork, Communication and Organization

• Works together with team and with other departments, such as Sales Producers, Client Advisors,etc.
• Plans and discusses the execution of strategies. Meets deadlines set forth by Producers.
• Volunteers to back up and/or assist others as needed. Manages PTO with departmental needs.
• Completes special projects as assigned by the Director.

10% Determination

• Displays commitment and initiative to meet department and agency education goals as set forth in the organization’s education program.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to bring full resolution to issues minimal Producer/Director involvement.

• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Agency Management Systems, Excel Software, Design Software, Spreadsheet Software, Word Processing Software, and Internet software.

Education and/or Experience

• At least three years related insurance experience and/or training, preferably handling multi-line, commercial accounts; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications

• Must hold applicable state insurance license or have the ability to obtain such within 90 days of employment. Must be able to obtain insurance designations as set forth by the organization’s education plan.
