Job summary

First Independent Insurance Agency in Clinton Township, MI, is seeking a Personal Lines Account Manager who builds relationships, solves problems, and helps clients find the right coverage. You’ll work with multiple carriers to tailor solutions that fit individual needs.

Experience with an independent agency is preferred. A Michigan Property & Casualty license is required; Life license is a plus. This role emphasizes personalized service and collaborative teamwork within a growing agency.

Qualifications

• Must have Personal Lines insurance experience and prefer independent agency background.
• Active Michigan Property & Casualty license is required.
• Life license is a plus.
• CISR or CIC designation preferred; must be obtained within 24–36 months at the latest.
• High school diploma, college degree, or equivalent experience required.
• Previous customer service experience is required.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable with computers and agency management systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted contact for Personal Lines clients with prompt, professional service.
• Manage and service existing Personal Lines accounts through policy lifecycle.
• Respond to client inquiries by phone, email, and other channels.
• Review renewals, coverage, and premiums to identify value opportunities.
• Process endorsements, requotes, and policy changes.
• Identify cross-sell opportunities and coordinate with Commercial, Farm/Ag, Life teams as needed.
• Process new business including gathering information, quotes, applications, signatures, and policy submissions.
• Assist clients with underwriting requirements and claim questions.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a trusted point of contact for Personal Lines clients, providing friendly, prompt, and professional service.
• Manage and service existing Personal Lines accounts throughout the policy lifecycle.
• Respond to client inquiries by phone, email, and other communication channels.
• Review renewal policies, coverage, and premiums to identify opportunities to improve protection and value.
• Process endorsements, requotes, remarketing, policy changes, and cancellations.
• Identify account rounding and cross-selling opportunities and connect clients with the appropriate team members for Commercial, Farm/Ag, Life, and other insurance needs
• Process new business when appropriate, including gathering information, preparing quotes, obtaining applications and signatures, collecting payments, and submitting policies to carriers.
• Communicate underwriting requirements and work with clients to resolve issues and maintain appropriate coverage.
• Assist clients with claims questions and help facilitate resolution when issues arise.
• Provide policy information and documentation to authorized banks, mortgage companies, automobile dealers, and other third parties.
• Build strong client relationships and generate referral opportunities through exceptional service.
• Maintain accurate client records and keep agency management systems, tasks, and communications organized and up to date.
• Stay current on carrier systems, products, underwriting guidelines, and eligibility requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development.
• Collaborate with coworkers and insurance carriers to resolve issues and deliver an outstanding client experience.

What We're Looking For

• Personal Lines insurance experience; independent agency experience preferred.
• Active Michigan Property & Casualty license
• Life insurance license is a plus.
• CISR or CIC designation preferred; required within 24–36 months, as applicable.
• High school diploma, college degree, or equivalent experience required.
• Previous customer service experience required.
