We are now hiring a Personal Injury Billing Representative
Are you an experienced healthcare billing professional looking for a new opportunity? Precision Imaging Centers is hiring a full-time Personal Injury Billing Representative. To be considered for this role, you should have 2-5 years of experience in healthcare billing, reimbursement, collections, and follow-up functions. Familiarity with Imagine, Centricity, and/or Epic medical billing systems is preferred.
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM
- Location: Remote but must live within the Eastern time zone
This remote position requires strong technical skills and self-discipline to work effectively from home.
The Personal Injury Billing Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the billing process related to personal injury cases. This role involves preparing, submitting, and following up on insurance claims, working closely with attorneys and medical providers, and ensuring accurate and timely billing.
Job Responsibilities
- Verify all demographic and insurance information in patient registration of the EMR software system to ensure accuracy, provide feedback to clients and supervisor to ensure complete billing process.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims related to auto accident & personal injury cases.
- Follow-up on all outstanding PI cases with attorney every 90 days.
- Follow-up on all cases for correspondence, account reconciliations and rebills within five working days of receipt to achieve maximum reimbursement in a timely manner with an emphasis on patient satisfaction.
- Work closely with attorneys to understand case details and billing requirements.
- Provide customer service on the telephone for all clients and authorized representatives regarding patient accounts in accordance with practice protocol. Patient calls regarding accounts receivable should be returned within 1 business day to ensure maximum patient satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed and accurate PI records of billing transactions, payments, and outstanding balances.
- Prepare reports on billing activities and financial status of personal injury cases.
- Maintain practice productivity metrics determined by management.
- Complete special projects/assignments within specific timeframes assigned by management.
- Assist with additional workloads in the event of employees’ absences.
- Accurately and thoroughly document the pertinent collection activity performed.
- Adhere to all practice policies related to HIPAA and Medicare Compliance.
Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have Auto Accident and Person Injury billing experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in healthcare billing and/or reimbursement/collections performing follow-up functions.
- Previous experience with medical billing systems preferred: Imagine, Centricity or Epic a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledgeable billing form requirement (HCFA 1500).
- Knowledgeable of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify/resolve problems and document outcome.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and critical thinking skills required.
- Exhausts all resources prior to seeking management assistance.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Moderate skill with Google and/or Microsoft Office applications; Word and Excel.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Operate standard office equipment in everyday work activities.
