Job summary

Mercy LIFE Valley View, part of Trinity Health PACE, is seeking a Personal Care Assistant for the 1st shift in Elwyn, PA. The role entails assisting with daily living activities, safety monitoring, and coordinating transportation for participants.

A sign-on bonus of $2500 is offered with a 2-year commitment, paid in installments. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent and willingness to learn ASL; prior geriatric experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with frail/elderly population preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing participant assessments and monitoring.

• Identify safety hazards and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with recreational activities, meal service, and housekeeping.
• Report changes in participant's condition to staff.
• Escort participants to appointments and assist with transportation.

PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANT 1st Shift

Location: Elwyn, PA

Status: Full time

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm, every other weekend/holiday

Position Purpose:

This role impacts participants lives by providing essential personal care services and health support.

Position Details:

• $2500 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment paid in 3 installments.
• This program provides services to a community specifically comprised of deaf seniors. All candidates must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL).

What you will do:

• Conduct ongoing participant assessments and monitoring.
• Provide assistance with daily activities, including toileting, grooming, and meals.
• Aid in maintaining physical activity and exercise routines.
• Identify safety hazards and respond to emergencies.
• Assist with recreational activities, meal service, and housekeeping.
• Report any changes in participant's condition to center staff.
• Escort participants to appointments and assist with transportation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail/elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization upon hiring.
• Must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL). ASL proficiency preferred.
• Preferred experience in long-term care or geriatric programs.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to change.
• Some travel within the region may be required.
