Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication administration and ensure adherence to care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs, including specialized diets for dementia or Alzheimer's care.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are upheld.
- Provide emotional support through compassionate communication, engaging residents in activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
- Assist with transportation and accompany clients to appointments or community outings as needed, ensuring their safety at all times.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and recognize signs of distress or changes in condition.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your effectiveness in this role.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training such as HIPAA compliance or medication administration is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks; experience working with residents requiring Hoyer lifts or other patient transfer methods is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within multidisciplinary care settings.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or evenings as needed; experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities is beneficial.
