Job summary

LOVING & GENTLE CARE HOME HEALTH SE is seeking a Personal Care Aide (PCA) to assist clients with daily living activities in the home setting. The role includes help with bathing, dressing, meals, mobility, and safe home management under the supervision of a care team.

You will observe vitals, remind about medications, and document care provided, ensuring infection control and safety at all times. This is a client-centered, in-home support position aligned with families and caregivers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Capable of performing assigned duties.
• Able to assume responsibility for in-service training.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with participant and supervisor.
• Able to use mobile apps for check in and out.
• Capable of following a care plan with minimal supervision.
• Be able to document services provided.
• Follow written instructions.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and utilize proper infection control techniques.
• Pass competency testing or successfully complete a competency training and evaluation program performed by an RN.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services including assistance with walking, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, meals, and feeding.
• Help maintain the home environment, including light cleaning, laundry, shopping, and safety.
• Observe client vital signs and monitor health changes.
• Remind clients about prescribed medications and assist with transportation as needed.
• Assist with activities of daily living as listed in the description.
• Document services provided and communicate changes to supervisors.

Personal Care services are designed to help clients with normal daily activities and monitor the medical conditions of functionally impaired/disabled clients. The kinds of activities that the Personal Care Aide (PCA) performs are comparable to those that family members would perform for the person in need. Personal Care Aides provide assistance with walking, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, preparing meals, and feeding. The aide also helps to maintain the home environment, including light cleaning, laundry, shopping, and keeping the home safe. The client’s vital signs, such as respiratory rate, pulse rate, and temperature, are observed. The aide may also remind the client to take prescribed medication(s) and, when necessary, transport and/or escort the client.

Requirements

Under no circumstances may a PCA perform any type of skilled medical service.

Support for activities of daily living:

• Eating
• Bathing (Bed Bath, bench shower, sink bath)

• Assist in and out of bed
• Reposition participants as necessary
• Assist with ambulation
• Toileting and maintaining continence
• Cleaning, laundry, shopping, home safety, errands
• Monitor temperature, check pulse rate, observe respiratory rate and blood pressure
• Monitor medication- give reminder
• Errand services as necessary
• Observing and reporting the participant’s condition
• Limited assistance with financial matters, such as delivering payments to designated recipients on behalf of participants. Receipts for payments should be returned to participant.
• Assistance with communication which includes but is not limited to placing phone within participant’s reach and physically assisting participant with use of the phone, and orientation to daily events.
• Observing and reporting on participant’s condition.
