Ideal candidates have a High School diploma and at least 1 year in healthcare; certifications such as PCA/STNA or CPR/BLS are preferred. Shifts include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year in healthcare or related care setting preferred.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and time-management.
• Certifications: Active PCA or STNA, CPR/BLS preferred.
• Requirements: Able to lift, stand, transfer residents and work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and meal setup.
• Welcome new residents and help them acclimate to the facility.
• Support resident mobility, positioning, and transfers between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.
• Build trusting relationships with residents and respond to questions and call lights promptly.
• Monitor well-being and report changes to the nursing team.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe living areas.
• Respond to urgent situations and report safety concerns to nursing leadership.
• Collaborate with nursing, admin, and therapy staff to deliver high-quality care.

Job Summary

Portage Lakes Nursing & Rehab is seeking a compassionate, customer-focused Personal Care Aide (PCA) to join our nursing team in Akron, OH. In this role, you will provide hands-on daily care, mobility assistance, and personalized support to our residents to ensure a safe, comfortable, and dignified living environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with essential Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and meal setup.

• Welcome new residents and assist them with acclimating to the facility.

• Support resident mobility, positioning, and safe transfers between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with residents and respond promptly to questions, concerns, and call lights.

• Monitor resident well-being and report physical, emotional, or behavioral changes to the nursing team.

• Maintain clean, organized, and safe resident living areas.

• Respond to urgent situations and immediately report critical incidents or safety concerns to nursing leadership.

• Collaborate closely with nursing, administrative, and therapy staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Required).

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare, direct care, senior living, assisted living, or long-term care (Preferred).

• Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and strong time-management capabilities.

• Certifications: Active PCA or STNA certification, or CPR/BLS certification (Preferred).

• Requirements: Ability to meet physical demands (lifting, standing, transferring residents) and flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, or holidays as needed.
