The-Meadows in Montoursville, PA is seeking a compassionate Nursing Assistant to support residents with ADLs and medication administration under the direction of the Personal Care Supervisor.

You will contribute to safe, respectful care, observe resident changes, and work as part of a care team to maintain a clean, supportive environment. This role requires attention to detail, empathy, and the ability to follow directions in a busy residential setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior caregiving, Med Tech or CNA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with ADLs (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility).
  • Support IADLs including escorting, meal service, activities, and light cleaning.
  • Observe residents and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff.
  • Provide assistance with medications as delegated (if trained/certified).
  • Respond to call bells and resident requests promptly.
  • Support residents with safe ambulation and transport within the facility.
  • Communicate with residents, families, and staff using respectful, patient-centered language.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with recreational and social activities for residents.
  • Comply with all facility policies, safety practices, and regulatory standards.

Reports To: Personal Care Supervisor

Job Summary

Provides assistance to residents by performing patient care and support activities, including ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and IADLs (Instrumental Activities of Daily Living), and medication administration, under the direction and supervision of the personal care supervisor. Ensures quality, safe, and respectful care aligned with regulatory standards and resident needs.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Core Competencies

  • Basic care principles, methods, and procedures for supporting physical and mental health.
  • Policies, procedures, and safety strategies for resident care and facility operations.
  • Human behavior, performance, motivation, and learning.
  • English language structure and content for clear communication.
  • Actively assisting residents with daily care needs and activities.
  • Listening attentively and asking clarifying questions.
  • Conveying information effectively and respectfully.
  • Using reasoning and observation to recognize changes in resident condition and respond appropriately.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Recognize when situations may pose risks or need corrective action.
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, and staff.
  • Perform manual tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a care team.

Requirements

Licensure

Physical & Mental Demands

  • Standing, walking, talking, hearing instructions, handling objects, pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Lifting (up to 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently).
  • Continuous concentration, memory, problem solving, patience, and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to safety hazards.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: Primarily indoor conditions
  • Risks: High/low temperatures, loud noise, smells, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens (PPE required as applicable).
  • Protection: Procedure mask, exam gloves, additional protective equipment as required.
