Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals in maximizing strengths and abilities while upholding personal rights and dignity. The role involves emotional support, social engagement, and providing safe, structured supervision across various settings in accordance with each person’s plan.

Responsibilities include administering medications as prescribed, coordinating medical appointments, and transporting individuals to appointments and activities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or its educational equivalent.
• Must hold or obtain and maintain valid Driver’s License with no more than five points.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands of position including frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in maximizing strengths, interests, and abilities while upholding personal rights.
• Provide emotional support, build positive relationships, and encourage social activities.
• Ensure supervision, protection, and care of individuals and adherence to program guidelines.
• Administer medications as prescribed and manage related inventory.
• Schedule medical appointments and follow up as needed.
• Operate agency vehicle for transportation to programs and activities.
• Document observations, progress, and communications in health records and logging systems.
• Participate in team meetings and communicate programmatic needs to the circle of support.
