Job summary

DeSoto County Schools in Hernando, MS seeks a substitute teacher to provide instruction when the regular teacher is absent, support student progress, and maintain a positive learning environment.

You will implement lesson plans, engage students across topics, assign tasks, and, for long-term substitutes, may develop lesson plans and participate in parent conferences. Adherence to state ethics and confidentiality is required.

Responsibilities

• Assumes duties of the regular classroom teacher promptly per school rules.
• Implements existing lesson plans to protect instructional time and engage students.
• Instructs students on topics as determined by lesson plans.
• Assigns tasks and homework according to lesson plans.
• Creates a positive learning environment and adapts to students' learning styles.
• For long-term substitutes, may develop lesson plans, grade tests, and attend conferences.
• Adheres to the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics and Standards.
• Maintains confidentiality of all Desoto County Schools records.

Major Functions:

In the absence of the full-time teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assumes duties of the regular school classroom teacher promptly and in accordance with school rules.


• Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time and motivates students to learn and participate.


• Instruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics/courses of instruction, as determined by the school\'s lesson plans.


• Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with the school\'s lesson plans.


• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learn and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Address the various learning styles of students accordingly.


• For long term substitute assignments, it may be required to develop lesson plans, devise, administer, and grade test and assignments; participate in parent-teacher conferences; and attend school-related functions.


• Adhere to the Mississippi Educator Code of Ethics and Standards.


• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all Desoto County Schools\' records
