Job summary

The City of Richland is seeking a diligent engineering technician who supports permitting processes through plan reviews, interpreting complex drawings in relation to municipal codes, regulations, and applicable Federal, State, and local laws. This role focuses on roadway and utility design, utility locating, and construction inspection.

You will perform technical review under the Public Works Director in a fast-paced environment and build long-term partnerships.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, CADD or related field.
• Five (5) years' experience in civil engineering, electrical engineering, engineering technology, construction inspection, or utility projects.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Obtain Flagger Certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain for duration in position.
• Ability to review construction plans for compliance with City standards, municipal codes, and general engineering principles in roadway and utility design engineering and construction inspection support and/or related work.
• Ability to check engineering calculations and information to review drawings and plans.
• Ability to write technical reports or letters to summarize plan review comments.
• Ability to review materials and estimates for construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Performs intermediate technical work in the fields of roadway and utility design engineering, utility locating, or construction inspection, and related work as apparent or assigned.
• Work is performed under the general direction of the Public Works Director.
• This position works on-site full-time typically Monday through Friday day shift with potential option of flex schedule.

Education
