Job summary

Town of Marana is seeking a Permitting Supervisor to lead the Development Services Department in a full-time exempt capacity. The role oversees staff, customer service functions, and permitting workflows, with opportunities for alternative work schedules or telework.

The position supports policy development, data reporting, and program updates to ensure efficient permitting processes and excellent service to the community.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent.
• Over three years of experience in a closely related field.
• Over one year of supervisory experience or must complete the Town of Marana's supervisory academy within one year of hire date.
• Ability to pass the Town of Marana background check.
• ICC Permit Technician Certification or must obtain within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and development to assigned staff; establishes goals and objectives; participates in the recruitment process, evaluates work performance, ensures compliance with policies and procedures, and monitors employee relations matters.
• Manages the day-to-day business operations and customer service functions; ensures quality of work, and adequate coverage; and may perform permit technician duties as needed for back up.
• Contributes to the development, analysis, implementation and updates to policies, procedures, and workflows related to the permitting process.
• Coordinates intake and distribution of documents; administers workflow and serves as liaison among other divisions and department staff to resolve customer service support functions.
• Assists with preparation and analysis of reports and statistical information relating to permitting activity, and performance metrics; monitors accuracy of data entry; identifies areas for improvements; makes program and budget recommendations based on trends.
• Ensures timely customer service and provides accurate information; responds to customer concerns and requests via in-person, phone, and digital communication platforms.
• Assists with testing, training and other support services for the permitting software including updates, modifications, fee reversal, and overall administration relating to permitting.
