Job summary

State of New Hampshire is seeking a qualified engineer to develop and administer major permitting programs for the district. The role involves coordinating permit reviews, evaluating plans, and supervising staff to ensure compliance with standards and public safety.

Requirements include advanced engineering degrees with substantial post-baccalaureate experience, a PE license, and a valid driver's license. A trainee option may apply for those with combined education/experience exceeding high

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering with 4+ years post-baccalaureate experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 6+ years post-baccalaureate experience.
  • Associate's degree in engineering or engineering technology with 6+ years experience at level plus 2 years as Engineering Technician.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation.
  • Trainee option available for 9+ years of relevant education/experience after high school.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate permit application review with Bureau, agencies, developers, and utilities.
  • Review and direct changes to complex consultant projects to meet standards.
  • Inspect and monitor major construction phases to protect public safety.
  • Supervise engineering staff in plan evaluation and field inspection.
  • Develop and defend department objectives related to the permit process.
  • Perform research on the state highway system and MS4 compliance.
  • Maintain records for permits, plans, deeds, and easements.
  • Ensure work complies with risk, safety, and environmental standards.
