Job summary

State of New Hampshire is seeking an Access & Utility Engineer to develop and administer major engineering programs related to district permitting. The role requires complex coordination with multiple agencies and the supervision of staff to ensure compliance with Department standards and access management principles.

Qualified candidates hold an engineering degree with the required years of experience or a PE license and must be willing to be on 24‑hour call.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering with four years of post‑baccalaureate engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with six years of post‑baccalaureate engineering experience.
  • Associate’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with six years of experience plus two years comparable to an Engineering Technician.
  • PE license in Civil, Civil Highway, Geo‑Technical or Structural Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate permit application reviews with bureaus, agencies, municipalities and utilities to issue permits efficiently.
  • Review and direct changes to complex projects to ensure compliance with standards and access management.
  • Inspect and monitor major construction phases to protect the traveling public and highway integrity.
  • Supervise engineering staff in plan evaluation, application of engineering principles, and inspections.
  • Develop and defend department objectives related to the permit process and public relations.

Education

Master’s degree in Engineering
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Associate’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Valid driver’s license
