Job summary

Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Permits & Registration Tech to support civil processes by conducting crime record, mental health, and other document reviews related to concealed handgun permits and sex offender registrations. The role requires discretion and the ability to handle confidential information with tact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1 year of specialized or technical training.
• Two years’ experience in business, administrative support, or criminal Justice.
• Ability to obtain DCI certification within 6 months of hire.
• Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review complex criminal records, mental health, and other documents for concealed handgun permits and sex offender registrations.
• Provide non-criminal fingerprinting service for citizens.
• Cross-train in processing concealed weapon applications and sex offender registrations.
• Maintain confidentiality and deliver excellent customer service.
