A local government office is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Planning & Zoning Administrative Coordinator to join their fast-paced Resource Management Department. This position plays a vital role in assisting the public, processing permits and applications, maintaining records, coordinating inspections, and supporting planning and zoning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding planning and zoning applications, permits, and department services.
- Assist applicants by explaining procedures, requirements, and department guidelines.
- Review, process, and issue permits and applications accurately and efficiently.
- Provide information regarding site plans, setbacks, easements, variances, restrictions, and other permit-related matters.
- Prepare planning and zoning case files, legal advertisements, public hearing agendas, and department reports.
- Coordinate communication with Planning Board members, County Commission, staff, contractors, property owners, utility providers, and the public.
- Calculate, collect, process, and reconcile fees for permits and applications.
- Prepare daily deposits and maintain accurate financial records and transactions.
- Update and maintain department databases, records, reports, correspondence, and files.
- Review permit applications and supporting documents for completeness and compliance.
- Process planning and zoning applications including rezoning requests, variances, conditional use permits, subdivision plats, replats, home occupations, and related services.
- Coordinate inspection requests and maintain related documentation.
- Accept citizen complaints, create case files, and prepare supporting documentation for Code Compliance staff.
- Generate monthly reports, process refunds, and ensure accuracy of information submitted to internal and external agencies.
