Barnstable is seeking a detail-oriented administrator to perform advanced work reviewing and processing permit applications using e-permitting, including licensing requirements. The role involves assisting the public, facilitating the application flow, and communicating any anomalies to inspectors.

Performs advanced technical work in the review and processing of permit applications with e‑permitting including state licensing requirements and any and all other requirements necessary to secure a permit. Assists public and facilitates application process, advises inspectors of anomalies and problems identified during in‑take; all other work as required.
High school diploma with a supplemental course in office procedures and computers, two (2) years experience in a general office setting; or any equivalent combination of education or and experience.
Experience in electronic permit application processing.
Knowledge of division regulations and operations. Knowledge of office practices and procedures. Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances. Knowledge of Stripe processing.
Ability to work independently. Ability to plan and develop procedures to accomplish duties. Ability to work tactfully and patiently with general public and handle difficult or irate people. Ability to work and meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions. Ability to multi‑task and organize clerical and statistical records. Ability to operate typical office equipment.
Ability to understand the forms and effectively communicate the permitting process to a culturally diverse group.
Ability to determine which workman’s compensation forms are required based upon the proposed project and employees involved in that project.

Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and advanced applications involved in the permitting process.
