Job summary

City of Allen is seeking a detail-oriented permit reviewer to ensure building compliance with safety codes by processing permit applications and Certificates of Occupancy. You will track permits from intake to issuance, collect fees, and respond to staff and public inquiries in a collaborative environment.

The role requires a high school diploma with 2 years of office support and customer service experience, and a Texas driver’s license. ICC certification within a year is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years of office support and customer service experience.
• Ability to obtain ICC Permit Technician Certification within one year of hire.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License and safe driving record.
• Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• Knowledge of city codes, permits procedures, and office software.

Responsibilities

• Accept and process permit applications including fees and documents.
• Verify professional licensing and track inspections in databases.
• Respond to inquiries from staff and the public; provide reports.
• Maintain permit databases and assist with system training.
• Provide exceptional customer service to developers, contractors and citizens.
