Job summary

Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking a Permanency Specialist to provide professional child welfare casework services to children and families in the Springfield area. You will determine the need for and coordinate placement in substitute care facilities while conducting client interviews for ongoing diagnosis and treatment planning.

Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or related field with professional casework experience.
• Bachelor's degree in social work with related experience or related field with 1–2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional child welfare casework services to children and families.
• Determine needs and coordinate placement of children in substitute care facilities.
• Conduct interviews to obtain information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Transport clients for protective custody and placement changes.
• Prepare and maintain case documentation for planning, implementation, and evaluation of services.
• Participate in case staffings and multidisciplinary conferences to assess needed services.
