Job summary

Hy‑Vee is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead store operations, perishables, and health wellness/home departments. This exempt role focuses on supervising staff, meeting customer needs, and maintaining high store standards through effective training and guidance.

You will work closely with the Store Manager and District Store Director to drive profitability and service quality, while building a positive, customer‑focused team environment.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent experience.
• One year or more of retail experience including performing the duties of an Assistant Manager.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates the activities of employees.
• Ensures that customer’s needs are met.
• Oversees proper training, handles employee issues, and coordinates disciplinary procedures when necessary.
• Determines location of ad and promotional displays, ensures product quality and quantities to meet customer and store demands and profitability.
• Ensures the store standards for customer service, employee relations, and overall departmental profitability are met.
• Ensures compliance with store accounting procedures and reports potential problems.
