Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishables Lead in Leesburg, AL. You will manage the perishable departments including produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and inventory, while supporting the Store Manager in merchandising and safety.

You will ensure accurate pricing, fresh stock, and strong customer service. The role emphasizes training assigned associates in perishable presentation, proper food handling, and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to follow plan-o-grams and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, handbooks, and communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using tools such as current ads/planners and vendor order guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of perishable goods.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs are addressed in a timely manner.
