Job summary

Food Lion in Wesley Chapel, NC is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee daily store operations, hire and develop department staff, and drive sales while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will manage labor, control expenses, ensure excellent customer service, and apply Food Lion guidelines and training to foster a productive, welcoming shopping environment for customers and associates alike.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Good understanding of store operations preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Ability to lead and direct others.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation

Responsibilities

• Manage the Perishable Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
• Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provides ongoing performance management
• Daily management of labor and coaching of associates to achieve productivity
• Provide leadership to promote a culture reflecting Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
• Support achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
• Deliver fast, friendly customer service and create a positive shopping experience
• Role model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet customers' expectations
• Control store expenses through proper ordering and supply care
• Interpret company tools like financial reports and scheduling systems
• Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, and sanitation
• Ensure perishable department schedules enable extraordinary customer service
• Understand scheduling, sales, wage percent, interviewing and training procedures
• Ensure proper merchandising, ordering, receiving and display according to guidelines
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions
• Record and report accidents as required
• Monitor shrink and coach on loss prevention
• Execute promotions and signage for Perishable Department
• Comply with local, state and federal regulations
• Adhere to company guidelines and safety standards
• Maintain security standards
• Complete CBT and training courses
• Recognize achievements and counsel as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned
