Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a surgical technologist program or prior to 9/1/2009 substitution with 1 year hospital experience as a ST.
• Experience: None required (unless used in lieu of education).
• Per Texas HB 643, post-9/1/2009 entrants must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of quality surgical care by anticipating surgeon/procedure needs and coordinating with circulating perioperative nurse.
• Gather, prepare, and maintain sterile supplies and field; supply sterile instruments to the field.
• Perform routine scrub role and support department-specific duties; adhere to current standards and hospital policies.
