Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care’s Urology Clinic (OR/Lithotripsy) is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist with surgical procedures and sterile processing under the supervision of a registered nurse.

duties include preparing the surgical area, maintaining aseptic technique, assisting with patient care, and supporting instrument and equipment preparation and sterilization. Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on incentive; full-time work on campus in Iowa City.

Qualifications

• Completion of a vocational or military course in surgical technology or certification as a surgical technologist.
• Ability to assist with perioperative procedures and sterile processing.
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Prepare surgical areas and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and manage implants/equipment.
• Document procedures and patient data as required by department.
• Support sterilization and instrument processing in Central Sterilizing Services.
