Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Surgical Assistant to join the perioperative team as a full-time staff member. You will provide direct support to surgeons during operative procedures, assist with exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling, wound closure, and ensure a sterile environment.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Surgical Assistant program and certification such as CSFA/CFA/CSA, with BLS; ACLS preferred.

Formación

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Assistant program and certification as CSFA/CFA/CSA.
• Minimum of 1 year perioperative experience preferred in various surgical specialties.
• BLS is required; ACLS preferred for emergencies.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and organize the operating room with instruments and implants for procedures.
• Review schedules and patient information to ensure readiness and safety.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin prep, draping, and safety measures.
• Verify surgical site and patient identity per Universal Protocol.
• Provide direct surgical assistance during operative procedures.
• Handle instruments and maintain sterile technique throughout cases.
• Retract tissues for optimal visualization and assist with hemostasis.
• Contribute to wound closure and dressing according to training and credentialing.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and technologists to ensure efficient cases.
• Support quality improvement, patient safety, and infection prevention initiatives.
