Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA is hiring a full-time Perioperative Support Specialist 2 for day shifts. This role supports the surgical team by retrieving and delivering supplies, instruments, and equipment, while applying advanced aseptic technique.

The position requires a High School Diploma, 2 years of hospital experience, and BLS certification. Prior perioperative/OR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 years hospital experience
• BLS certification from AHA on start
• Prior perioperative/OR experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Facilitates transferring/positioning of patients in the OR and assists with patient preparation.
• Prepares the OR for cases by opening sterile supplies/instruments and maintaining aseptic technique.
• Reads OR schedule and prepares for the next surgical encounter.
• Retrieves and delivers supplies and instruments to ORs to minimize nurse time out of room.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for cases.
• Checks and validates case carts and sets up rooms for next day.
• Takes specimens and cultures to lab as needed and maintains temperature logs.
• Submits tickets to Engineering to ensure a safe environment of care.
• Supports additional projects or duties as assigned.
