Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA is seeking a dedicated Perioperative Support Specialist 2 for a full-time, day-shift role Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm. You will assist with patient prep, set up the OR, and ensure aseptic technique to support nursing staff.

Two years of hospital experience and an AHA BLS certification are required. The position emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and efficient case setup in a busy perioperative environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 2 years of hospital experience.
• Certification: BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) upon start.
• Preferred: previous perioperative/OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates transferring/positioning of patients in the operating room.
• Prepares the operating room for cases with sterile supplies/instruments and aseptic technique.
• Reads and understands the OR schedule and prepares for the next surgical encounter.
• Retrieves and delivers requested supplies and instruments to Operating Rooms to minimize the circulating nurse's time out of the room.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases for efficient procedure setup.
• Checks and validates case carts.
• Sets up rooms for the next day with standard equipment.
• Takes specimens and cultures to lab as needed.
• Maintains Temperature Logs.
• Submits tickets to Engineering to ensure a safe environment of care.
• Supports additional projects or duties as assigned.

Perioperative Support Specialist 2 Responsibilities:

• Prepares the operating room for cases by opening sterile supplies/instruments and maintaining awareness of aseptic technique.
• Reads and understands the OR schedule and preference cards to prepare for the next surgical encounter.
• Retrieves and delivers requested supplies and instruments to Operating Rooms to minimize the circulating nurse's time out of the room.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases to provide efficient procedure set up of surgical cases.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: 2 years of hospital experience.

Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) upon start

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience within surgical services preferred.

Previous experience supporting a perioperative/OR environment preferred.
