Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, VA is seeking a full-time Perioperative Support Specialist 2 for day shifts (Mon-Fri, 6:45 am–3:15 pm). You will assist with patient care, retrieve and deliver supplies, prepare ORs, manage case carts and support surgical teams to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma, 2 years hospital experience, and BLS certification; perioperative experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates transferring/positioning of patients in the operating room and assists with patient surgical preparation
• Prepares the operating room for cases by opening sterile supplies/instruments and maintaining aseptic technique
• Reads and understands the OR schedule and preference cards to prepare for the next surgical encounter
• Retrieves and delivers requested supplies and instruments to Operating Rooms to minimize the circulating nurse's time out of the room
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases to provide efficient procedure setup
• Checks and validates case carts
• Sets up rooms for the next day with standard equipment
• Takes specimens and cultures to lab as needed
• Maintains Temperature Logs
• Submits tickets to Engineering to ensure safe environment of care
• Supports additional projects or duties as assigned

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicatedPerioperative Support Specialist 2 to join the Team. This full-time role will be day-shift working Monday – Friday from 6:45am – 3:15pm located in Fairfax, VA.

The Perioperative Support Specialist 2 assists with patient care while retrieving and delivering requested supplies, instruments and equipment to the operating rooms as directed by the surgical team. This role demonstrates professional and advanced knowledge of aseptic surgical technique and surgical procedures. Demonstrates responsibility for self-development. Provides equipment support for operating room staff and surgeons before and/or during the operative procedures to avoid procedure and turnover delays.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:2 years of hospital experience.

Certification:Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) upon start

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience within surgical services preferred.

Previous experience supporting a perioperative/OR environment preferred.
