Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin in Elgin, IL is seeking a Staff RN in the Surgery department. The RN is responsible for delivering perioperative care, coordinating with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, and directing OR staff to ensure safe, efficient patient flow.

This per diem position offers day shifts with on-call coverage. Candidates must hold a current state RN license and BLS; ACLS and PALS are required or expected on hire; perioperative experience is preferred and CNOR/BSN are a plus.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly accountable to OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services; deliver perioperative patient care.
• Coordinate care with surgeon and anesthesiologist; guide OR staff; ensure continuum of care.
• Maintain standards; participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services.
• Serve as resource for other personnel.
