MercyOne Central Iowa in the Des Moines metro area seeks a part-time perioperative nurse to provide intraoperative patient care in scrub and circulating roles for patients from neonate to geriatric. This position requires call, weekends, nights and holidays as scheduled.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, efficient case prep, effective communication with patients, families and the OR team, and maintaining equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Scrubs and circulates on cases independently.
• Prepares for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and OR team.
• Provides a safe environment by aseptic technique and by controlling physical and psychological aspects of environment.
• Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis.
• Communicates effectively with patient, staff, physicians, and families.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment setup and function.
• Initiates and directs room cleanup and turnover.
• Attends department meetings and inservices.
