Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for an OR Services role in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The position offers comprehensive care coordination across pre-, intra-, and post-operative settings, including scrub assistance and medication administration.

The RN will provide patient-centered care per nursing process, collaborate with physicians and the care team, and educate patients and families.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing role or student clinical rotations in an acute care setting required
• Current RN license (State Licensure) required
• BCLS certification required; ACLS/PALS/NRP preferred

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and delivers patient-centered care in accordance with nursing process and policies
• Conducts thorough patient assessments and documents findings
• Administers prescribed medications and monitors for side effects
• Assists physicians during procedures within competency
• Develops and evaluates individualized care plans with the care team
• Responds to medical emergencies and participates in life-saving interventions
• Provides patient and family education on conditions and discharge plans
• Maintains infection control protocols and safety standards
• Documents care thoroughly in the medical record
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and audits
• Supports OR services: pre-, peri-, and post-operative patient care and sterile technique
