Job summary

Truman Medical Centers seeks a dedicated Perioperative PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join Lakewood Medical Center. You will provide vital care in the OR and PACU from pre-op through postoperative recovery, ensuring safe transitions and effective pain management.

The role requires active Missouri RN license, BCLS and ACLS within 90 days, with PALS and radiology competency as applicable. BSN is preferred and prior surgical/nursing experience is valued. UH is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Active Missouri RN license or eligibility.
• BCLS certification required and maintained.
• ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• PALS certification, if department requires.
• Radiology training or validated competency if radiology functions are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room: provide comprehensive care during surgeries, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and efficiency.
• Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, manage post-operative pain, and assess vital signs to ensure patient stability.
• Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments to ensure patients are physically and mentally prepared for surgery.
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans.
• Participate in the education and mentoring of nursing students and new staff members.
• Contribute to departmental committees, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
