Job summary

UF Health North in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) to provide patient-centered care across perioperative phases in a high-efficiency 5-OR surgical suite. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, lead nursing activities when assigned, and uphold department and hospital standards while preparing patients for surgery.

Required: Florida RN license; BSN within 3 years or Associate's with plan to obtain BSN; BLS/ACLS; PALS within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Florida RN license.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS; PALS required within 6 months of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care using the nursing process for perioperative patients.
• Lead staff nurse activities and assume Charge Nurse role when assigned.
• Collaborate with Surgical Techs, PCAs, Guest Associates, and Anesthesia Technologists.
• Ensure compliance with departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and standards.

Position Overview

The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides individualized, goal-directed nursing care across select phases of perioperative care. Utilizing the nursing process and professional standards, the RN maintains overall accountability for patient outcomes while collaborating with and delegating tasks to a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: Manage and deliver high-quality nursing care using the nursing process and principles of primary nursing.
• Leadership & Accountability: Perform all staff nurse activities and step into the Charge Nurse role when assigned.
• Team Collaboration: Maintain overall responsibility for assigned patients while effectively delegating tasks to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associates, Guest Associates, and Anesthesia Technologists.
• Compliance: Ensure all clinical activities align strictly with departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

• Licensure: Active, unrestricted Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years of relevant perioperative nursing experience.
• Education/Credentials: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a relevant Specialty Certification (e.g., CNOR).
