Job summary

UF Health St. Johns seeks a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver goal-directed nursing care across our premier surgical network, including robotic and advanced platforms. The role involves leadership as Charge Nurse when needed and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in our top-ranked facilities in St.

Johns County. Required education includes an Associate’s Degree in Nursing with an active Florida license and certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS).

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensure: Active Florida RN license.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required within six months of hire.
• Preferred: BSN within three years of hire; perioperative nursing certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, goal-directed perioperative nursing care across assigned phases of perioperative care.
• Perform all staff nurse activities and serve as Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Maintain accountability for assigned patients across age groups and supervise/delegate tasks to Surgical Technologists and other staff.
• Collaborate with the Nurse Manager in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.

Position Overview & Responsibilities

• Comprehensive Care: Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care utilizing the nursing process and professional standards across assigned phases of perioperative care.
• Team Leadership: Perform all staff nurse activities and serve effectively as a Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Accountability: Maintain overall accountability for assigned patients across all age groups, supervising and delegating appropriate tasks to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associates, and Anesthesia Technologists.
• Collaboration: Partner under the direction of the Nurse Manager in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.

Required Education & Licensure

• Education: Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Note: Hires must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school within three (3) years of hire or transfer.
• Licensure: Active license to practice nursing in the State of Florida.
• Certifications:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from the American Heart Association.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within six (6) months of hire or transfer.

Required Experience

• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of related operating room (OR) experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) upon hire.
• Specialty Certification in perioperative nursing.
• 2+ years of relevant perioperative nursing experience.
