Job summary

Mercy South is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant for the Main OR. The role requires active RN licensure in Missouri, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and at least 1 year of perioperative nursing experience. BLS/ACLS certification is required within the first year.

CNOR or RN-First Assistant certs are preferred. The nurse will support surgical teams through the perioperative process, ensuring patient safety, confidentiality, and adherence to Mercy standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year perioperative nursing experience.
• BLS/ACLS required within first year.
• Demonstrates continued competence in assisting and in perioperative nursing.
• CNOR certification and/or RN-First Assistant certification class preferred

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients.
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers.
• Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
• Performs duties and responsibilities in alignment with Mercy mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
