Job summary
UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham, a part of UAB Medicine, is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in the operative setting. The role includes scrub and circulating duties and direct assistance to the operating team.
You will prepare rooms and instruments, support patient safety, and participate in perioperative planning. Requires BLS/ACLS within specified timelines and Alabama RN licensure, with benefits for eligible positions.
Qualifications
- BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire.
- ACLS required within 180 days of hire.
- Licensed RN credential for Alabama prior to hire.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for surgical or invasive procedures.
- Perform scrub functions: selection/handling of instruments and supplies for procedures.
- Perform circulating functions: monitor patient condition, document, communicate status, and manage overall nursing care around surgery.
- Directly assist surgeon with hemostasis, suturing, and exposure; assist with patient positioning.
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
