Job summary

University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Lansing is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Perioperative Care Unit. The role provides professional nursing services, guides care plans, and collaborates with the health care team to maximize patient outcomes.

The RN will assess patients, develop individualized care plans, educate patients and families, and participate in quality improvement activities. Michigan RN license and BLS within 60 days are required.

Qualifications

• Clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills required to deliver quality patient care.
• Associate degree in Nursing; Basic Life Support within 60 days of hire; current Michigan RN license.
• Interpersonal skills for effective communication; computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate clinical patient activities in the absence of Department Manager.
• Participate in shared decision making.
• Assess patient condition and initiate appropriate nursing/medical care per guidelines.
• Develop and update individualized plan of care in line with medical treatment.
• Educate patient/family using mutual participation model.
• Participate in quality improvement activities within department and system.
• Delegate and supervise care plan implementation to LPN/PCT or other staff.
• Document assessment, plan, care provided and patient response.
