Job summary

Shenandoah Medical Center in Iowa seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive perioperative and recovery care. You will use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the RN scope of practice.

Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the care team, you will document thoroughly and educate patients and families before and after procedures, while maintaining safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• RN license required or eligible for licensure in Iowa
• Experience in operating room and post-anesthesia care preferred
• Ability to administer medications and manage intravenous therapies per policy

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process to achieve patient outcomes.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments promptly and efficiently.
• Review provider orders and clarify when needed.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team to coordinate care.
• Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Deliver emergency nursing care within the RN scope when immediate intervention is needed.
• Prepare and maintain operating room readiness and assist with procedures.
• Educate patients and families before and after procedures.
• Ensure safety protocols and infection prevention practices are followed.
