Job summary

University of California, Irvine's UCI Health is seeking an Operating Room Nurse to provide perioperative care through the nursing process in operative settings. You may serve as scrub or circulating nurse and act as a role model to nursing students and new staff.

Responsibilities include coordinating patient care from pre-op to post-anesthesia, and adapting to various procedures while maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards. Shift flexibility is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months recent nursing experience in an acute-care perioperative environment.
• Internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and ADN with enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 years.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels.
• All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to scrub and circulate in most surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• The Operating Room Nurse uses the nursing process to design, coordinate, and deliver patient care for operative procedures, serving as scrub or circulating nurse as needed.
• Acts as a role model to nursing students and new nurses on the unit.
