Job summary

Atrium Health Mercy is seeking a Nurse Educator for Preoperative, PACU, and Same Day Procedure areas. The role focuses on orientation and ongoing education for the nursing team, with emphasis on evidence-based practice and patient-centered care.

Required BSN, current RN licensure, and at least 3 years of related perioperative experience. 40-hour work week with benefits eligible; Magnet-certified facility with emphasis on education and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• 3 years clinical experience in related area (OR, ER, acute care).
• RN licensure in applicable state.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with nursing leadership to assess orientation and continuing education needs for nursing team.
• Develops and conducts facility-specific orientation for licensed and non-licensed nursing staff.
• Facilitates 30 day new employee orientation and 90 day reunion sessions as part of service excellence initiatives.
• Designs programs that enhance nursing practice and assists learners in licensure/certification requirements.
• Coordinates with Nurse Managers to place and orient students and organize preceptorships for undergrad/graduate students.
• Uses adult education principles to plan and implement educational activities based on learning needs.
• Works as a program Planner and evaluates learning programs.
