Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network invites applications for the OR LPN Internship, a full-time paid 16 to 18-week program. The internship trains Licensed Practical Nurses in perioperative scrub roles across surgical specialties and campuses with didactic and preceptored clinical experiences.

Interns learn aseptic principles, prepare supplies and equipment, and may transition into a full-time position within LVHN's operating rooms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience or less in a healthcare setting is acceptable, and willingness to learn.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of medical and surgical supplies and sterile techniques.
• Time management and organizational skills.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support - PA certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures and ensures that the operating room is a safe environment.
• Performs appropriate surgical counts and prepares case carts for upcoming procedures.
• Collaborates with the OR circulator to prepare the room, gather sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintains the sterile field using sterile and aseptic techniques and ensures equipment is functioning properly.
• Performs in-between case cleaning turnover in the operating room suite.
